Today, you will explore Hong Kong's unique blending of Chinese heritages and colonial influences. You will first visit the Victoria Peak located on the mountain with an altitude of 552 meters. It provides you a spectacular bird's-eye view of Hong Kong's famous skyline.
Then, you will visit the floating community of Aberdeen, which is a harbor area crowded with junks and sampans, where 6,000 people live and work on junks.
Your third stop today is the Repulse Bay, one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Hong Kong.
You next stop is the famous Wong Tai Sin Temple. It is one of the most famous temples in Hong Kong and is extremely popular during the Chinese New Year. Many worshipers would wait outside the temple before the New Year' Eve. It is believed that the earlier they offer the incense, the luckier they will be through the year to come.
Jade Market in Kowloon is your last stop today. If you are a jade lover, it sure is an ideal place to buy all kinds of jade crafts and jewelries. However, you need to bargain hard!
Free in the day until our local guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to Guilin. Your tour guide in Guilin will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. On the way, you will receive a Chinese way of New Year greeting, a Red Packet (a red envelope enclosed ¥50 lucky money), a Chinese New Year Painting, and a Chinese Knot, from your lovely and considerate tour guide. After breakfast, you will be driven to Zhujiang Pier (40-minute drive) to start your boat cruise down the picturesque Li River, which is the highlight of any visit to Guilin, until you get to Yangshuo County. Along the river, you will be inspired by breathtaking views of Karst peaks and pinnacles, crystal-clear water and picturesque pastoral views of rice paddies and water buffaloes. Visitors feel they have stepped into a traditional Chinese painting.
After checking into your hotel, you will have a very special cooking class to make dumplings and other Chinese dishes. Your cooking teacher will accompany you to a local market to purchase the ingredients needed. Dumpling is a necessary food during Spring Festival in China. Eating dumplings during the Spring Festival is considered auspicious for fortune and wealth in the year to come. However, dumplings are not the only New Year food for Chinese people, if you are interested in more New Year food, please move your finger slightly and click in.
Today you will be driven back to Guilin (1.5-hour drive) and visit some of its most famous sites. Elephant Trunk Hill is alike a giant elephant drinking water from the Li River. It is vivid and considered the symbol of the Guilin City.
Reed Flute Cave, with magically illuminated stalactites and stalagmites, is one of the most beautiful Karst caves in the region.
Your lunch will be served at a restaurant making excellent local cuisine. You will be enjoying some of the most delicious local New Year dishes, such as glutinous rice dumpling in soup and rice cake. Chinese New Year dishes usually have auspicious names. Glutinous rice dumpling is also called Tang-yuan. In Chinese it means reunion and everything goes smoothly.
